Kevin
How Kevin met his forever family
In December of 2020 we heard through a family friend they knew someone trying to re-home their dog as he was on his way to an animal shelter, before we even knew anything about him we decided to meet him with the possibility to adopt him. That’s when we met him, he was just about to turn 8 months old, he was a dirty large fluff ball. He was the sweetest and most loving pup ever. He was so happy to be getting love and affection from us. We took him home two days later, he needed some help as he had a few things to learn. He was not house trained, wasn’t aware of how to walk on a lead, was not on the correct food, didn’t know how to play with toys and had no records of any vaccines. We named him Kevin after “Kevin McAlister” from Home Alone as he was home alone at Christmas and is our little blonde!
No more Home Alone for Kevin
He is so full of love towards everyone he meets, he loves dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, people and children. He is loving to all our nieces and nephews and they love him back! Kevin loves to try his paw at anything, he enjoys hiking with friends, running through fields and splashing about on the beach. He attends hydrotherapy for his health and absolutely loves diving into the pool. He recently started agility where he zooms around the arena giving it his all. He has now entered into the world of Showing, where he entered in the neutered competition where he is collecting so many rosettes.
Therapy Dog with Peata
Kevin’s latest conquest is becoming a Therapy Dog with Peata. He firstly applied online, he then attended Peata for his interview and assessment test where he passed with flying colors. He sat to attention in his interviewed and then Peata put him to the test to make sure he had the right temperament in new environments.
He now attends a Hospital as a pet therapy dog where patients and staff absolutely love him and he loves attending giving love and kindness to patients. After every visit Patients are always looking for his next visit. He seems to know which patient needs a cuddle and excitement and which one needs just a paw to hold. He loves getting all the rubs and treats, he is always so gentle with everyone from young to older patients and he just knows what they need from his visit. He helps with patients mental health, giving them a boost in mood, giving serotonin and helps lower stress when he is around. He also brings such Joy to the staff as they get such a lift seeing his wagging tail on the ward. He absolutely loves saying hello to all the staff in the hospital to security, kitchen staff, house keepers, admin, doctors and the nurses. They are always so happy to have a cuddle with him as it helps their mental health when working in a high pressure environment.
